Hotel Room

Hostels

The cheapest mostly dormitory style accommodation aimed at the young and young at heart. A wide range of hostels are available. Most have kitchen for use by residents, bars, luggage storage etc.

Cheapest accommodation in London. Most are really small simple hotels rather than family run accommodation with lots of personal touches and personal attention. Wide variety in costs and facilities.

Budget Hotels (2 & 3 Star Grade)

Accommodation suitable for the leisure and business visitor found throughout London. Mid range no frills chain hotels with familiar names are all available but the majority are independent 3 stars hotels offering value.

Full service hotels with all the well known global luxury brands like Hilton, Marriott and Novotel present in most hotel districts, battling with the local independent hotels for your custom.

Mostly situated in the most exclusive districts of London like Mayfair, Knightsbridge and Piccadilly. Luxurious, individual hotels all very different but each aiming to provide the ultimate hotel experience.

Apartments, Studio Apartments and Aparthotels

A good range of studio, one and two bedroom apartments available for short-term letting of a day or more. Spread throughout London all are fully furnished with modern self catering facilities.

Single Bed Rooms

Single travellers sometimes have no choice but to pay the same price as a double/twin room. We have a separate page highlighting options across all hotel grades with rooms for one person.

Family Rooms

If you are a family or a small group it is possible to get larger rooms in most sectors. Choice is largest in the budget hotels, but we detail rooms for up to six people in all sectors.

Hotel Districts

A budget hotel district with outstanding value hotels. Good position next to Hyde Park and close to Paddington Station. Has a large local community so very good for everyday needs and restaurants.

On the edge of the West End with Covent Garden and Leicester Square within walking distance. British Museum is in heart of district. Mostly mid range and 4 star hotels. Ideal for theatre breaks.

To the east of the centre of London, Canary Wharf is one of the main financial districts. Redeveloped in the 1980's every building is new including hotels built around the waterfronts of the old West India Docks.

City Of London & Tower of London

London's main business area dominated by financial institutions. Not normally favoured by leisure travellers because of expense. However at weekends bargains to be found around the Tower of London.

County Hall & Waterloo

On the south bank of the Thames an area much improved in the last decade and now a great place for the visitor. Hotels beginning to take hold but no great variety, mostly 3 & 4 stars.

Dominated by Euston Station with trains to the north-west/midlands of England and North Wales & Scotland. Good range of accommodation around the station area. Tends to be cheaper at weekends.

Part of the Docklands redevelopment area to the east of London a number of hotels around the waterfront of the old docks serve the Excel Exhibition Centre, City Airport and the O2 Areana.

Just to the west of the very centre. Price and number of stars decrease as you go west. From exclusive Knightsbridge (Harrods), through to cheap B&B at Earls Court. Good for Heathrow.

One of the best value budget areas to stay in Central London. A whole district of B&B hotels directly opposite the stations with low prices and above average standards. London terminus of Eurostar trains.

Terminus of the Heathrow Express and trains to West Country & Wales. On the edge of Hyde Park and less than 1km from Oxford Street. All grades of hotel but biased towards budget accommodation.

Relatively large area encompassing Marylebone, Bakers Street, and Swiss Cottage. Handy for visitors using Luton and Stansted Airports. Hotels dispersed over wide area.

Very close to most attractions and direct public transport to all of London's airports. Some cheap B&B behind the station but otherwise mostly above average priced hotels. Very convenient if you use Gatwick Airport.

The very centre of the entertainment and shopping districts. Dominated by large expensive 4 & 5 star chain hotels. Includes Oxford Street, Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Mayfair.
